Terms and conditions
Last updated 19 October 2026
These terms set out the rules for using Afrique Folk. By using the site you agree to them, so please read them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
1. Using this site
Afrique Folk (afriquefolk.co.za) is published by Afriquefolk. You may use the site for your own personal, non-commercial purposes.
You agree not to misuse the site. This includes trying to gain unauthorised access to it, interfering with how it works, spreading malicious code, copying content in bulk by automated means, or pretending to be someone else. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the site at any time.
2. Our content and copyright
The articles, photographs, videos, graphics, logo and design on Afrique Folk belong to us or to the people who license them to us, such as the photographers and partners credited with each story.
You are welcome to share links to our stories and to quote short extracts, as long as you credit Afrique Folk and link back to the original story. You may not republish full articles or images without our written permission.
3. Comments and submissions
When you send us a story tip, press release, photograph or other material, you confirm that you have the right to share it and that it is not unlawful, defamatory or misleading.
You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to publish, edit and adapt that material across our website, newsletter and social channels, with credit where appropriate. We decide what to publish and may edit submissions for length, accuracy and style.
4. Links to other sites
Our stories link to other websites, such as event organisers, artists and ticketing platforms. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices. Visiting them is at your own discretion.
5. Advertising and sponsored content
Some content on Afrique Folk may be sponsored by, or produced in partnership with, brands and organisations. Sponsored content is labelled as such. Advertising and partnerships do not influence our independent editorial coverage, and mentioning a product, venue or event is not an endorsement unless we say so.
6. Events and competitions
From time to time we may run competitions or giveaways, or promote events. Each one will have its own rules, which apply together with these terms. Competitions are run in line with the Consumer Protection Act, 2008.
7. Limitation of liability
We work hard to keep our stories accurate and up to date, but event details, prices and line-ups can change after we publish. Please confirm important details with the organiser before you make plans.
To the extent the law allows, including the Consumer Protection Act, we are not liable for any loss or damage that arises from using the site or relying on its content. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot be limited by law.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of the page shows when they last changed. If you keep using the site after a change, you accept the updated terms.
9. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
