Afrique Folk took some time out to get to know Deep House DJ Supreme H. The DJ is known for his tracks Give Me Time, It’s That Brother Love, Healing Energy and Who We Are.
The talented producer from East Rand’s (Ekurhuleni) Tsakane is making a name for himself in the deep house scene.
OB1: Please introduce yourself.
SH: I’m Lehlohonolo Sello known as Supreme H, 24 year old artist from Tsakane.
OB1: Take us back to your childhood, have you always known music would be a part of
your life?
SH: Honestly speaking I didn`t know music would be part of my life however love for music was there.
OB1: When did you finally discover music?
SH: I discovered music 2019 … It’s been 5 years now in the music scene.
OB1: What made you want to become a DJ?
SH: The love of being behind the decks made me fall in love with Djing.
OB1: Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of music?
SH: I do, besides music I spend much of my time drawing.
OB1: What would you say are your musical influences?
SH: When I think of Deep House, I think music. There’s so much music out in the world today so people are influenced by the music they listen to. So with me it’s deep house.
OB1: What is it about music that makes you feel passionate?
SH: Music has a physiological impact on my me and that motivates me.
OB1: What strengths do you have that you believe make you standout from other DJs?
SH: I believe that there`s no Dj that plays like me and that’s what makes me a great Dj.
OB1: Describe your creative process when you’re preparing for a gig.
SH: Prepping for a gig I make sure that I prepare a fire Track selection
OB1: Who’s your ideal musician to collaborate with and why?
SH: My ideal musician to collaborate with is C-Moody because he’s so talented and produces good music.
OB1: Are there any musicians who inspire you? What qualities do you admire about them?
SH: Yes there is, especially musicians from my hood like Rephlex, Radic The Myth and Mnela they got great qualities, they are supportive and sharing. They are willing to share their art with the world.
OB1: Tell me about your favourite performance so far.
SH: My favourite performance was when I was booked at Bahama Bar, after my set people were coming to me and taking pictures, people were happy.
OB1: Which qualities do you think make a great musician?
SH: I’m creative, disciplined and communicate well with others.
OB1: What’s the best piece of advice another musician ever gave you?
SH: DON`T TRY TO BE SOMEONE ELSE,BE YOURSELF.
OB1: What accomplishments do you see yourself achieving in the next five to 10 years?
SH: Being one of the best artist coming from Tsakane and the most booked artist.
